All claims must be notified to Surety & General (S&G) immediately. We will receive your claims notifications, assist and advise you regarding the scope of cover and pass the information to the Insurer.
If a loss adjuster is appointed we will pass on your contact details and co-ordinate meetings. In the case of a major loss we will attend the initial meeting with the loss adjuster and subsequent meetings as and when required.
We will monitor all claims on a regular basis to ensure expeditious settlement.
Although you have insurance to cover the various contingencies detailed herein there are certain practices and responsibilities you should adopt and make known to all staff, most are common sense, briefly these include:
You should act in a manner that you are not insured
You must make every effort to reduce a loss
You must protect property
You must make every effort to protect property that becomes vulnerable as a result of an incident, such as if a glass door is broken and it allows access to the premises, you should have the glass replaced immediately or if a glazier is not available have the door boarded with a material, such as timber, that is difficult to penetrate.
Never admit liability
Never admit liability for an incident or claim in the event where a third party is involved – i.e. damage caused to another’s property or bodily injury.
Obtain as much detail as possible
In the event of all claims obtain as much detail as possible, write down contact names of persons involved, date/time/place of the incident, i include photos if they will assist the loss adjuster and/or insurer making an informed decision and/or defense of a claim.
If you have any doubt about what to do or have any queries do not hesitate to contact S&G. Ph : 02 9929 9969.
